Push-Up Update (6 months)
If you'll remember back to my 32nd birthday post in November, I made a goal to learn how to do a push-up. "A" as in "one" . . . that is all. Below is a video of my progress, but first a little bit of Stella:
She's a little more advanced than I am. She's going to teach me how to do a cartwheel next.
NOVEMBER 2009
(when I turned 32-years-old)
MAY 2010
(when I turned 32 1/2-years-old)
I could have done another 1/2 of one, but I had already worked out for the day and I was tired.:) Catch me before the workout and I might get my chest all the way down (which, by the way, is missing these days . . . anyone seen it?)
Feel free to give advice on my form how how you think I may improve my push-up (notice, only one) in the next 6 months.

Last Day of Kindergarten!
Friday, May 27, 2010 was Stella's last day of Kindergarten at Fuller Elementary. All reports and updates concur that she is more than ready for First Grade and now that she understands that Mrs. Cahill won't be going with her, she's ready for the challenge! Stella LOVED Kindergarten!
They had a luau for their going away party.
I was babysitting, so I didn't get to go to the whole thing, but isn't Stella just the perfect little luau princess?
This is her surprised face to see me at the end of the luau.
She traced her friend Andrew,
became nostalgic when I told her she wouldn't be going to this school anymore (and I wanted to show you her cute hair),
blew some bubbles,
was happy to pose with Andrew again,
choked herself by neck hula-hooping,
let me hula-hoop,
continued to be the easiest subject to photograph,
said goodbye to Mrs. Amy Cahill (her baby is due in July),
said goodbye to most of her classmates (some went home already) - [pictured: Stella, Cili, Addie, Pyper, Andrew, Andin, Brandon, and Chloe M., not pictured: Harmonee, Chloe B., and Estevan],
(notice how Stella is the only one not holding a certificate . . . it's because she was tardy 8 times . . . ahhhhh! . . . she wasn't even phased by it!)
gave hugs to the front office ladies who absolutely love her because they got to know her really well due to the chronic lateness,
and said goodbye to Kindergarten!

Showcase of the Stars
Stella's been taking gymnastics for 8 weeks and had her "Showcase of the Stars" performance in May at Gold Medal Gymnastics.
The gym is owned by Amanda Borden who was one of the "Magnificent Seven" from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (remember Kerri Strug's broken ankle on the vault?).
Holy muscles.
Stella was so excited for this event! She was selected to hold the torch for the 'opening ceremony'. They had 4 events going on at the same time, so some of the pictures you'll have to look in the back for her. Also, her regular teacher wasn't the one spotting her, so she was way too helpful because she didn't know about Stella's super-skills.
She started out with the FLOOR ROUTINE doing ta-da forward roll finish, step kick cartwheel finish, feet together jump 1/2 turn, straight jump roll to candle, lay down bridge up, one foot up, kick cartwheel, chase to pose. I wasn't sure when it was her turn, so I wasn't prepared to do video.
Her next routine was VAULT (that was way in the back in the pictures) doing squat on and forward rolls on the mats. The too helpful teacher is pretty much standing in the way of all her pictures, but you can tell who her regular teacher is (really short hair) because she doesn't help Stella as much.
Next routine was the BARS doing a pullover, 3 casts, forward roll down, and skin the cat to ta-da. When I asked Stella why the teacher was helping her so much, she said, "I don't know, she's just a nice person." Stella can do all of that by herself, including spinning around the bar with straight legs and ending back in the straight arm position she started in. That's why she passed her class.
Her last routine was the BEAM doing the leg over, tuck, bring toes behind and stand, forward walk 4 steps, 4 kick steps, lock pivot turn, straight jump, releve walk 4 steps to arabesque hold, step lock pivot face the front of gym, jump dismount (and Stella added a wave).
Grandma and Grandpa Dibble, Aunt Beth, Aunt Xan and her cousins Anabelle and Claire came to help support Stella in her first gymnastics meet and her cousins even brought her flowers! Thank you! GREAT JOB STELLA!

Trailer Park
Clark and Macy came over to play. Sometimes they play outside, but mostly they just gather every item that has ever been in Stella's room and they bring it out into the living room and build some sort of campsite.
Well on this day they (meaning Stella too) knocked over the recliner (which is fine, it's one of our games) and made it their car. Stella and Clark would drive and make Macy sit in the back. Then they added on by moving some other furniture around and bringing even more crap out of Stella's room.
This set-up became their trailer. Yes folks, they were playing trailer park. They were even screaming at each other like they lived in a trailer park. Clark even said, "We eat and sleep and do everything in here!"
Might want to set your sights a little higher kids.

Mermaidia . . . er, something
Stella had her friend Cili over to play after school one day. They watched Barbie Mermaidia and ended up in their swimmers doing flips off of the chair into their ocean of pillows. You should have seen them quoting the movie. Five-year-olds are funny.

I apologize. Stella informs me that Cili is not 5, but 6. Forgive my error.
Art Classes
By the way, my friend Liz Hill (whom I was visiting teaching) is an AMAZING ARTIST! Take a gander at her work HERE or on my Lizzy D - Fantasy and Fairy Art link on the right. She is teaching some art classes starting TODAY, so if you're interested, let me know or if you know her number, give her a call! Seriously, I'm commissioning a piece of art from her and also buying 2 (maybe 3 . . . OK, maybe 4) paintings from her fairy collection for Stella's room. She's amazing. Here's her email announcing the art classes:Summer once again is upon us. And once again I am doing art classes! :D Classes will start on June 7 and end on June 24 and there will only be 4 students in each class.

These classes will be done at my home.
If you have question about the classes don't know how to get to my house or just want to say hi be give me a jingle. And for those of you that want to take classes but will be leaving before the classes are done just let me know and we can work something out.
I'm looking forward to a fun start to summer! I'll see you all later.
Feel free to forward this to anyone that might be interested.
