Dibble Theaters

Several weeks ago Stella and I were bored, so we decided to surprise Daddy with a dinner and movie night.

Showing at the theater was whatever we happened to have from Netflix at the time. Show times were subject to change due to everyone and their dog getting married in March and having receptions to attend.

Stella was in charge of the concession stand and picked out all of the candy to sell to Daddy for so many kisses a candy. Don't worry we didn't eat all of it, the rest of it went to Daddy's work.

(If you're looking close enough at my picture to see the ledge of my window, let me explain. When Stella was old enough to stand/climb, she'd climb up onto the ottoman that we had in front of the window and stick her little head under the blinds and watch for Daddy to come home. While she was there, she'd nibble on the drywall. She may have problems later.)

Ward BBQ

We had our ward BBQ over a week ago at the park and I told Stella she could ride her bike when we got there. She had her silly helmet on ALL MORNING and wouldn't take it off during the whole barbecue! Sweaty head!

This is Stella's little friend Allison (who just moved back into the ward) right after scoring on the Easter egg hunt. Stella is SOOOO happy!

Girls Day Out

Stella and I love our Girls Day! We got our toes done and since Stella is so little, she gets her fingernails done too!

Strawberry Jam

Thanks for teaching me Mother Dibble!

At Last!

Stella got to be a sister for a few seconds and she was in heaven!

She also thinks she can toss her around like a doll. Not sure why she's so confident in her parenting skills already, but she sure loves Baby Lucy!

Random

As I've mentioned before, Stella still needs assistance after she's done with her business. This is what I found when she called me in one day.

Stella was a little indecisive as she was choosing what she wanted to dress up like yesterday. So she became a Princess Batman Cowgirl Hoochie Mama (the shorts, it's the shorts).

This morning Stella was helping sort the laundry this morning and I was explaining why you can't wash colors with whites. Stella was in my laundry basket when I went back into my room.

MOM: Are you my laundry Stella?
STELLA: Yes, I want to be PINK!

Raymond in Seussical

Our 9-year-old nephew Raymond has been practicing for this Dr. Seuss musical extravaganza since October and he NAILED his part as Yertle the Turtle! Great job Raymond!

Ball Challenge - 03/06/09

We had some new competitors for our Ball Challenge. All of our guests seem fairly quiet, but once we busted out the ball, they all became very competitive! We love it!

I love it when Stella participates.

Elliot is always the game explainer.

I'm sure Lorielle's next purchase will be an exercise ball so that she can master it. She wouldn't give up!

Mike may or may not have sustained some injuries. Tricks are to be done at your own risk.

Annie tried to swim herself out of falling.

Tim had some terrible falls which led us to a conversation about carpet padding or the lack thereof.

I didn't even get a picture of Michelle's face, but she had a good fall or two.

Lance is tall. He's also Stella's new favorite because he got to catch her for a good 10 minutes as she jumped from the ball.

Pure joy in that face.

Songs

I just realized as I was singing "You Are My Sunshine" to Stella tonight that I may have been really morbid as a child. I was sure that in the second verse, the person killed himself. He hung his head and cried. Dead. With a rope.

On a happier note, this reminds me of one of my friends who was totally confused with the words in the hymn "Love One Another." He wondered for a really long time just what a "shalmeno" was (". . . by this shall men know . . ."). It still makes me giggle.

BOOK CLUB - Cheaper By The Dozen

Book Club was several weeks ago, but I wasn't able to attend. I did, however, LOVE the book "Cheaper By The Dozen" by Frank B. Gilbreth, Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey.

I haven't seen either versions of the movie, so it wasn't at all what I thought it would be about. The father, though totally pompous and controlling, somehow made his family of 12 children run as efficiently as a factory and they all loved him!

The story wasn't necessarily in order, but it was a collection of vignettes from 2 of the Gilbreth children. They were hilarious! My favorite was when they were driving around town in their giant car (the kids were mortified) and everyone was staring. Some people would even make comments. One man said something about Noah and the Ark and collecting animals, to which Mr. Gilbreth replied (something like this), "Yeah, we're just trying to do what the Lord commanded. All we need now is a jackass. Climb in!"

Some of the stories just made us laugh out loud! Elliot read it too.

The Five Love Languages

My sister suggested that Elliot and I read this book several years ago. I've borrowed it from the library several times, but never cracked it open. I finally bought it last week to send to my niece, but decided to read it first. I love it already! Here are the 5 love languages:

1. Words of Affirmation
2. Quality Time
3. Gifts
4. Acts of Service
5. Physical Touch

At first glance, I already chose #5 as my main love language and #2 as my secondary language. I chose #1 and #4 for Elliot. I've already changed my mind as I've read half of it. I'm excited to see which one's we really are and then through the skills I've learned in #1 coax Elliot into reading it! :) I'll even make him a book cover (as Keith suggested) to hide the hideous purple!

Heartbreak!

As Elliot and I were walking out of the hospital after our visit with Baby Lucy, we met with Grandma Dibble and Beth who were herding Ray, George, Anabelle, Claire, and Stella in. This was convenient because we were just about to go pick Stella up at Grandma's house.

However, when we took her hand to go, she objected and stated very clearly that she intended to go see Baby Lucy! We explained that only brothers and sisters could see babies in the hospital (a rule at the hospital), to which she responded, "But I'm a sister!"

Then this happened.

She continued crying which broke our hearts and even earned her a dollar from Grandma Dibble.

When we got home, she was still very upset. I tried to distract her, but it didn't work. She started crying again because I looked at her and screamed for 5 minutes "DON'T LOOK AT ME!" When she finally calmed down a little bit, she came to sit on my lap so we could talk.

MOM: "Stella, what are you really crying about?"
STELLA: "I wanted to hold Baby Lucy! I WANT TO BE A SISTER!"

And then we were both crying.

Baby Lucy Dibble is here!

Our niece Lucy Dibble was born early this morning at 12:45 (15 minutes after arriving at the hospital . . . awesome, huh) to Elliot's brother Adam and his wife Xan!

She weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long and is just the sweetest little thing!

Congratulations Adam, Xan, Ray, George, Anabelle, and Claire! We love you!
