I talked to Mom this morning and she said that Lindsay is awake and apparently the surgery didn’t affect her personality. The tubes are out of her nose and throat and she was asking Mom for ice cream. When Mom said she couldn’t have any, Lindsay threw Mom one of her little high school looks in response. Lindsay also whispered to Dan (Keith’s dad) that she wanted to “get out of here!” She’ll be in the hospital at least until the 12th.
Mom said, as Dad was feeding it to her in the background, that the doctors are controlling the beating of Lindsay heart right now while they retrain the “weak” side of her heart to do the lesser job it was supposed to do in the first place. Apparently it won’t take long. Mom said that Lindsay is doing really well. She had a hard time coming out of the sedation and the nurses couldn’t take out one of her tubes until she was awake. She was trying to wake up and the nurses kept telling her to wake up, so finally she just burst her eyes open so that they could see that she was at least trying. If only she could have shot them one of her high school looks then.
